Setup

Assign one person to be the psychologist, preferably somebody who is astute and likes to solve puzzles. Have them leave the room out of earshot. As a group, decide on a pattern of behavior, trait, or action that the psychologist will try to guess. See our list of examples below for ideas. Invite the psychologist back into the room.

How to Play

The psychologist may ask one person in the group at a time questions that will help them decipher the pattern of behavior, trait, or action of the group. Any questions like ‘What is your favorite color’ or ‘What did you have for lunch’ are fine. As long as they get ther person talking so that the psychologist can observe any pattern. The psychologist gets only gets to ask 5 questions (or one question to everybody if the group is larger than 5). Once the psychologist makes their guess, the group reveals whether it is correct or not, and the next player becomes the psychologist. The game continues with each player taking a turn as the psychologist and guessing a new pattern.
