Pocket Party rules guide
How to Play Spyfall
To play Spyfall, every non-spy receives the same secret location while one spy does not. Players ask each other location-based questions, answer carefully, and vote on who seems lost. The spy wins by blending in or correctly guessing the location before being exposed.

Setup
Spyfall-style games work because everyone has private information. If you are playing in Pocket Party, the room setup keeps roles and locations hidden on each player's own device.
- Choose Spy from the Pocket Party game list.
- Create a room and invite players with the room code or QR code.
- Each player checks their private role or location.
- Set a timer or agree when the group can call for a vote.
Rules
Set up the location
Choose a location list, start a round, and make sure every player can see only their own role. Non-spies receive the shared location; the spy does not.
Ask questions
Players take turns asking each other questions about the location. Questions should be specific enough to test knowledge, but not so direct that they reveal the location to the spy.
Answer carefully
Non-spies answer in a way that proves they know the location. The spy listens for clues, answers broadly, and tries to infer where everyone is.
Accuse and vote
When someone seems suspicious, the group can discuss and vote. A correct vote exposes the spy; a wrong vote gives the spy more room to blend in.
Let the spy guess
The spy can win by correctly guessing the location. In Pocket Party Spy, a caught spy may also get a final Golden Guess depending on the room rules.
How to win
- Non-spies win by correctly identifying the spy before the spy guesses the location.
- The spy wins by correctly guessing the location or by avoiding a correct vote long enough to survive the round.
- If a group wants faster rounds, agree that one wrong accusation ends the game in the spy's favor.
Variations and house rules
One-question turns
Each player asks one question, then passes to the next player. This keeps shy groups moving.
Open accusation
Let anyone call an accusation after a few questions, then require a majority vote before revealing.
Easy location list
Use familiar locations for family groups or first-time players, then make the list stranger later.
Strategy tips
If you know the location
Ask questions that a real location-holder can answer, but do not reveal the exact place too early.
If you are the spy
Answer confidently with details that could fit several places until you have enough clues to guess.
When voting
Watch for answers that are too generic, repeat the question, or avoid concrete location details.
